Is Kenya a comfortable place to bring children?
Many families travel here every year. Comfort comes from the plan: the right lodge, realistic drive times, a car seat, and a person you can reach. That is the work we do before you book the flights.
What vaccinations do children need?
Requirements change, and they depend on where you live and where in Kenya you go. Ask your doctor, and we will share the current entry guidance for your travel dates.
What should we pack?
Layers for cool highland mornings, sun hats, swim things for the coast, any medicine you rely on, and familiar snacks for the first drive. Leave cots, seats, and strollers to us when you would rather not check them in.
What is the weather like?
Nairobi and the highlands are mild. The Mara is warmer. The coast is hot and humid. Rainy seasons green the parks and can slow the roads, so we time game drives and beach days around your month of travel.
What currency do we use?
The Kenyan shilling. Cards work in Nairobi and most coastal hotels. On safari, small cash is useful for tips and community visits. We will tell you what to carry.
Do hotels have baby cots? Can I get a car seat?
Many family lodges have cots, and we check before we recommend them. Car seats are part of our concierge service for the airport, safari, and coast.
Can we hire a nanny?
Yes. We refer professional nannies and child-minders. You meet the arrangement in writing before you travel.
What if my child gets sick?
You will have a local contact for the whole stay. We help you reach a clinic or hospital suited to children and stay with the practical details while you focus on them.
What foods can children eat?
Most family lodges serve familiar dishes as well as Kenyan food. Tell us about allergies and how adventurous your children are, and we brief the kitchen.
How long are safari drives, and what age is best?
There is no single best age. Babies do well with short days and a patient lodge. School-age children often love a full game drive. We set the length of each drive to the youngest traveller.
Can we travel with a baby?
Yes. The itinerary gets slower, the seat and cot are booked, and the nanny option stays open. Parents do this with us, and the days are built for it.
What happens at immigration and at Nairobi airport?
We send you a simple arrival note: what to expect at immigration, where your host will stand, and the number to call if the flight changes. Someone is there when you walk out.
